2016 prize giving

2016 prize giving

Last week on Thursday we had our 2016 prize giving. The juniors had their  prize giving at day time and the students had there one at night time. It was the best prize giving I have ever had. I was so sad as well because I am a year 8 and it was my last prize giving ever.

There were a lot of people there and a lot of my family were there. I was in the kapahaka group and we had to put on black lipstick and eyeliner and our kapahaka costume. I really loved performing in the kapahaka group because we learnt a lot of maori songs and we also learn this lovely song called kapi oi oi.

I was so happy because I was so proud of myself and happy as well and my family was very proud of me because the faces were so happy. When the kapahaka group was over we went into the library and got chang into our our school uniform when we got change we went into the hall and set with the other people to watch the other performances.

I was so glad to watch the other performances because they were all so good and some of them were funny. I was so nervous  when it was the year 8's tern because I was in the front of the line and I was in the middle as well but it was OK because I know that my mum was watching me from heaven and she was so proud of me and my little siblings so I started to dance hard and it was fun.

After our performances my Burt came in the front and told all the other students to turn to the back and sang a song that represents pt England school. We were singing it to our parents.
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy.

Controlled Variable - what variables will you keep the same?
The same type of seeds the type of soil and the same amount of water used for the plants.

The students of Room 4 wanted to find out what colour of bird feeders birds preferred. FIll our the table below thinking of which variables you would make independent, dependent and controlled.

Hiwi the Kiwi

On Thursday the 26th of August we meet Hiwi the kiwi. Hiwi the kiwi is a kiwi but, there were some other people that came to Pt England School and there names are Mr and Mrs Minstrel.

It was fun because we get to talk about the ocean and how to be safe in it and we also get to talk about fishing the right way. He told us his favourite bird and it was a Petrel the petrel is a black bird and it is a really big one and did you know if there were rubbish in the Ocean the petrel bird would come to the ocean and whatever colour it is the bird would come and swallow it and it dies when it dies  people cuts the tummy and gets the rubbish out.

We also learnt about a fish called a snapper. A snapper is a red-fish and there are some facts that you can learn from it like do not put on fresh water other ways it will rot and you can look it up in google and find some other cool things about snappers. We get to sing some really cool songs like the kai moana song and it is about feeding your family, saving our fish and also fishing for the future.

Mr Minstrel told something when you go fishing in a boat you always have to wear a life jacket cous if you don't you might full in the water and you might drown and you might die and if you ware a life jacket you will always be safe and you will have so much fun. Hope you like it.

He is trying to throw the ball as far as he can so he can win first place and also the gold medal for New Zealand. He is concentrating very hard to where the ball is going to go.

His name is Tomas Walsh and he is the first man from New Zealand to win a gold medal for the men's shot put . He is 24 years old and he was born in 1992 and he weighs 125 kg.

Tomas Walsh and Valerie Adams are like the best Shot Put in the word but in New Zealand there are more good Shot Put in the world but in different countries like U.S.A. and other Countries.
